Traveling by public transport can be not only easy, but also surprisingly enjoyable.
Why worry about parking?
Why skip that well-deserved cold beer after a hike just because you have to drive?
We love showing our guests how simple it is to reach the High Tatras by train and start a beautiful hike without any of the usual hassle. In fact, the journey itself becomes part of the experience – offering scenic views you would never see from the road.

The Two Lakes Trail
Your journey begins at Poprad-Tatry train station, where you hop on the electric mountain train heading towards Štrbské Pleso.
We recommend getting a 24-hour ticket for the Tatra Electric Railway (TEŽ), which gives you unlimited travel across the network for the whole day. It’s the easiest and most flexible option.
With one ticket, you can:
– travel from Poprad-Tatry to Štrbské Pleso
– hike down to Popradské Pleso
– and comfortably return back to Poprad-Tatry
Once you’re on the train, all that’s left to do is sit back and enjoy the ride. The journey takes about an hour, passing through charming villages, forests, and gradually revealing the beauty of the mountains. This is one of the things we love most – the train shows you hidden corners of the Tatras you would completely miss by car.
When you arrive in Štrbské Pleso, the highest mountain settlement in the Tatras at around 1,300 meters above sea level, take a moment to slow down. Start with an easy walk around the lake, soaking in the views and the atmosphere.

From there, continue along a marked trail through peaceful forest paths towards Popradské Pleso. This part of the hike usually takes around 1 to 1.5 hours and leads you to another stunning mountain lake, surrounded by dramatic peaks.

This is just one of the many ways to experience the High Tatras.
